Meet Julie: JuJuBee Quilting Tradition

Quiltworx Certified Instructor | Longarm Quilter | Quilt Enthusiast | Quilt Shop Owner

My love of quilting is deeply rooted in my upbringing among a large family of creative and artistic women. At just 14 years old, I stitched together my very first patchwork quilt, sparking a lifelong passion for fabric, color, and creativity.

Following a successful career as a paralegal, I embraced my creative talents while working in a quilt shop, where I further developed my design expertise and pattern-writing skills. I discovered a special joy in helping fellow quilters explore their creativity, encouraging them to confidently select fabrics, experiment with color, and bring their unique visions to life. Through years of teaching at quilting retreats and sharing my knowledge with others, I've been fortunate to develop a wonderful community of loyal students and quilting friends who continue to inspire and support me.

In 2015, I received my first longarm quilting machine as a gift, opening the door to an exciting new chapter in my quilting journey. Then, in 2016, while browsing Pinterest for inspiration, I discovered Judy Niemeyer’s breathtaking Vintage Rose quilt. It was love at first sight, and a new passion for foundation paper piecing was born! Eager to explore the possibilities, I dove headfirst into creating Star Baby, Ice Castles, Fire Island Hosta, and Egyptian Lotus, quickly followed by many, many more of Judy’s spectacular designs.

After attending several retreats at the Quiltworx Retreat Center in Montana, I gained a deep appreciation for Judy Niemeyer’s innovative, streamlined, and time-saving techniques. I recognized how these methods could transform the quilting experience for beginners and seasoned quilters alike, making even the most intricate designs approachable and achievable.

Inspired to share this knowledge and introduce fellow quilters to the incredible world of Quiltworx, I began my journey toward becoming a Quiltworx Certified Instructor in 2021. Today, I combine my extensive quilting experience, enthusiasm for teaching, and love of Judy Niemeyer’s designs to help students build confidence, master new techniques, and create quilts they once thought were beyond their abilities.

Whether you're just beginning your foundation paper piecing journey or looking to expand your skills, I would love the opportunity to guide, encourage, and inspire you. My classes and retreats are filled with practical tips, creative inspiration, plenty of encouragement, and, most importantly, the joy and camaraderie that make quilting such a rewarding experience.

When I'm not sewing, longarm quilting, designing, or teaching, I treasure spending time with my husband, our four grown children and five grandchildren. I make my home in the beautiful Florida Panhandle, but my love of quilting and adventure frequently takes me on the road. With my husband by my side and my sewing machine in tow, I enjoy traveling throughout the United States, connecting with fellow quilters, and sharing my passion wherever the journey leads.

I'd love to be part of your quilting journey—and perhaps bring a little Quiltworx inspiration to your next class, guild event, or retreat!
